The Bowser “Bug-Out” Bag or what we commonly refer to in Special Operations circles as a “Bug-Out Bag” is a small backpack that I have carried in many operations over the last 22+ years. It is a staple product carried in both training and combat missions and is often the one thing that provides peace-of-mind to folks who have one. I have used one many times and typically it will carry hand-grenades, binoculars, rations, first-aid gear, a poncho, a flashlight, an infrared beacon, a poncho liner (blanket), a pistol, water purification systems, local area maps, local or US currency, a global positioning system, a hand-held thermal pocket scope, translation gear, etc. I have relied on mine for my very life if need be and luckily, I never needed to use mine in a catastrophic sense such as an real world escape & evade situation, or a helicopter bail-out, but if I did, I rested much easier knowing it was there for me.
I always thought to myself that when wars ended for me and I went home to start a more peaceful life, I would build some of these to support a natural or man-made disaster for my immediate family. It started as a labor of love for my family and as news of my kits spread, my neighbors and friends were asking for me to build them one also.
So I decided to offer my version of a “Bug-Out” Bag called affectionately the Bowser “Bug-Out” Bag to folks who want to prepare ahead of time for a disaster. While you won’t get hand-grenades in your kit, you still get the same military specification or higher end items in your kit that I personally depended on in the past and will do so in the future just the same.
I build my kits based on the universal survival rule-of-thumb sometimes referred to as the “The Rule of Three’s” which simply
means you can survive three minutes without air, three days without water, and three weeks without food. Keep that in mind that we are all different in physiological makeup so you would greatly reduce the rule for a baby, elderly, or perhaps a special needs person.
Also recognize that the items in the Bowser “Bug-Out” Bag change frequently as new items are developed and become available to the general public and I personally classify them as tried, true, and tested. Clearly, all items from the backpack itself to the water purification to the survival knife are top of the line, high-end survival systems.
Each and every Bowser “Bug-Out” Bag is custom designed and quoted at current market value and then custom built for each customer after a brief phone consultation. It usually takes me about 3-5 days to design and quote a system to a potential customer and it can take a few weeks to get all the items assembled and delivered. Some items such as the filters or the food items have an expiration date for use so I don’t keep those items on shelves depleting time before delivery. After you make your purchase, I use my wholesale license to procure the freshest items for you. Just so
you know, anyone attempting to sell a survival kit that is universal or generic is not providing the customer the best product possible and would be clearly disingenuous for stating so. Additionally, how long has that system been sitting in a warehouse or a shelf somewhere? Hmmm – makes you wonder doesn’t it?
The Bowser “Bug-Out” Bag is worth every dollar put into it and will be invaluable when deployed in time of need. I can personally guarantee that it will be worth more than that flat-screen television set in your living room!
Here are some items typically found within a kit:
- Tactical Tailor 3 Day Assault Pack with Extra Outside Pockets.
- Lifesaver Bottle (Water Purification System).
- HTI Water Filter with liquid charges (Desalinization).
- Sweetwater Water Filter System (Water Purification System).
- Mountain House Dehydrated & Freeze Dried Rations.
- Full Tang Style Fixed Blade Survival Knife.
- Inova 24/7 Model Multi-Light Flashlight & Emergency Beacon Combination.
- Mountain Safety Research Whisperlite International Multi-Fuel Stove.
- Adventure Medical Kit (the standard used by Mountain Guides world-wide).
These are just a few of the items featured and not all inclusive. You may notice there are redundant water systems in the list above. Palatable and Potable water are paramount. Each of my systems has their own strength or weakness in areas such as portability (size),
volume or speed of purification, saltwater or freshwater purification and so on. After conducting a phone consultation – the best system/s will be part of the kit I design for you.
There are many other items not listed above that may also be a part of your custom survival system such as a Dental Medical Kit, Magnesium Fire-Starter, Survival Signal Mirror, Survival whistle, Hygiene Products, Poncho, Wound Care Kit, Poncho Liner (Blanket), Fuel Bottles for stove, Survival Manuals (Marine and Land), Global Positioning System / Radio / Walkie-Talkie, Dromedary Bag (for water storage), etc. Again, each individual item is an option to consider as each person has differing needs. There is not a one-size-fits-all survival solution so don’t be foolish enough to believe that a company can make a system that fits all. I strive to make my Bowser “Bug-Out” Bag a system of systems designed to best fit your needs.
